Introducing FORESTERRA

FORESTERRA is an ERA-NET Project within the EU's 7th Framework Programme, with a duration of four years and a budget of almost two million Euros. FORESTERRA's objective is to improve the coordination and cooperation in Mediterranean forest research among different entities from Europe and North Africa and to open possibilities for greater scientific cooperation with other Mediterranean Climate Areas.

FORESTERRA Workshop to in Sofia (Bulgaria) 27-28 May 2014

The FORESTERRA Dissemination Workshop was held in Sofia, Bulgaria, on 27-28 May 2014. The workshop was organized in order to strengthen the dissemination among EU Member States, MPCs, and the new EU Member and Candidate States. It was attended by 32 people from 7 different countries from the Balkan Peninsula and Middle East (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, FRY Macedonia, Serbia and Jordan). Representatives of the Lead Partner MINECO, European Forest Institute, ISA / CEABN Portugal and the European Commission also took part in the workshop.

FORESTERRA Transnational Call on “Mediterranean‐scale approach to study global change drivers, impacts & indicators on forest ecosystems and to foster forest system resilience through managing biodiversity"


FORESTERRA has launched on 4 November 2013 a transnational joint call for project proposals based on funds from participating countries. The call process has been completed and one Networking Action (MedWildFireLab) and one Research project (INFORMED) have been funded

Information about more than 130 experimental sites and research facilities in the FORESTERRA database on infrastructures for forest research in Mediterranean Region


FORESTERRA aims to increase the efficiency and coherence of European and Mediterranean forest research by facilitating access to research infrastructures. In order to promote the mutual opening of national research infrastructures and information, FORESTERRA identifies concrete forest research infrastructures of common strategic interest in Mediterranean region. Information about more than 130 experimental sites, research facilities and databases has already been collected and it is now available on-line at www.foresterra.eu/research.html

3rd FORESTERRA Steering & Management committee. Kavala, Greece 4 November 2014

FORESTERRA has organized its 3rd Steering & Management committee meeting in Kavala, Greece on 4 November 2014. The objectives of this Steering & Management committee meeting, have been to review recent actions, both administrative and scientific, and, in particular, refine the workplan until the end of the project, in December 2015.
